Fire Prevention, Inspections & Codes On behalf of the Fire Prevention Division I would like to take the opportunity to welcome you to our division’s website. Our division is responsible for overseeing the Fire Inspections within the City Limits and ExtraTerritorial Jurisdiction. We also oversee the Fire Protection requirements when a commercial building is being built or renovated. This also includes plan reviews, Knox Box program, permits and associated fees. In addition to the inspections we also are responsible for fire investigations. These are needed from time to time to determine the cause of a fire. We also assist with completing fire prevention/life safety programs for our local business, civic groups and any other organization at their request. With this we also are responsible for ordering fire prevention supplies to be distributed to the public.
