Students Against Drunk Drivers

Driving while impaired is a major problem in America. The age group from 16 to 19 years old, according to statistics, is the most affected. Drunk driving is the number one killer. Several local high schools have enacted programs designed to help educate their friends about all the facts of Driving While Impaired. The Jacksonville Police Department Community Services Division has participated in a combined effort with local S.A.D.D. chapters, to assist in their safe driving endeavors.

Selective Traffic Enforcement

Providing safety on the roadways and street is a concept adopted by the Jacksonville Police Department. A monthly calendar is published to include streets of concern where motor vehicle violations seem to occur often. Traffic enforcement to include speed detection, license checks, and other types of selected traffic enforcement are employed.

Driving While Impaired Programs

Statistically speaking thousands of people are killed yearly on our streets and highways. The fight to stop drunk driving has been a continuous battle for all citizens and law enforcement combined. The Jacksonville Police Department Community Services Division provides lectures and seminars to all groups on drunk driving. Audiences are given training and shown actual accidents scenes where stark tragedy has struck.
