Weed & Seed
Law enforcement agencies and prosecutors cooperate in "weeding out" violent criminals and drug abusers and Public and Community-based private organizations collaborating in "seeding" human services, including prevention, intervention, treatment and neighborhood restoration programs. The Weed & Seed strategy is multi leveled with plans that include four basic Principles; Collaboartion, Coordination, Community Partnership and Leveraging of Resources.

Comminity SeminarWeed & Seed is a community based strategy sponsored by the US Department of Justice. The program is an innovative, comprehensive multi agency approach to law enforcement, crime prevention, and community revitalization.

Weed & Seed
is foremost a strategy, rather than a grant program, that aims to prevent, control, and reduce violent crime, drug abuse, and gang activity in designated high-crime neighborhoods across the country.

Weed & Seed, Summer ProgramThe City of Jacksonville has designated an area that runs from the New River neighborhoods as the target for this strategy.

Two Pronged Approach - The strategy involves a two-pronged approach: Las enforcement agencies and prosecutors cooperate in 'weeding out' violent criminals and drug abusers and public agencies and community based organizations collaborate to 'seed' much-needed human services, including prevention, intervention, treatment, and neighborhood restoration programs. A community-oriented policing component bridges the weeding and seeding elements.
