Can I burn my yard debris inside the city limits?


No. Open burning is not allowed inside the city limits except for special situations requiring a permit.

Can I get a map of a particular neighborhood?


Yes. A kiosk is located in the lobby of the City Hall. You can zoom in to a specific property and print out a map for only 25-cents.

Does the City have its Code of Ordinances available on-line?


Yes, the City Municipal Code of ordinances is available online. You can also find out more City information at the City Clerk's webpage.

How does a citizen file a claim against the city?

How do I contact the City Council?


Council Members do not maintain offices at City Hall; however, you may write to the City Council as a group in care of City Hall, PO Box 128, Jacksonville, NC 28541.

How do you get hold of Animal Control?


You may reach Onslow County Animal Control by calling 910 455-0182.

I need a court date changed, or I have something to deal with involving the Court System.


The City does not operate the Court system. Please contact the Court Clerk at 910 455-4458.

I need my trash picked up OR I have an unusual piece of trash that needs picking up.

I want to complain about my Cable Bill. Who do I talk to?


The City does not regulate charges made by cable franchises. The City does grant a franchise for operation in the City to Time Warner. You may reach Time Warner Cable by calling 910 353-3500.

The City’s population as of the last Census, April 2000 is 67,715.

This is not a City function. Call the District Attorney's Office at 910 455-8008 or the Clerk of Court's Office at 910 455-4458.

Who do I call about getting my water hooked up?


To inquire about water hook-up please call the City's Public Utilities at 910 938-5248. The City Water and  Utilities billing division handles utility sign up, business licenses and other fees. For properties served by Onslow County call the Onslow County Water Department at 910 455-0722.

Whom do I call if my neighbor’s yard is full of trash and weeds and is very unsightly?


Call City Code Enforcement at 910 938-1707.

Why does a fire truck show up when I call for an ambulance?


The closest unit available is sent to provide emergency assistance until an ambulance arrives to transport the patient to the hospital.
