Desktop Support

The City of Jacksonville ITS department supports all of the Desktop and Laptop computers throughout the City. ITS supports City Hall, the Police Department, all Fire stations, all Recreation sites, and all Public Services locations. The ITS Helpdesk receives trouble tickets from users that cover basic to very advanced problems.

The ITS department is responsible for complete management and administration for every PC. This includes software installation, hardware installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and patch management.

All of our computers run Windows XP Professional along with Microsoft Office 2007 Professional. Each PC is loaded with an ITS approved image containing all other necessary applications for users to perform their required duties.

Every Desktop and Laptop computer is life cycled every four years as to keep up with new hardware requirements and to comply with manufacturer's warranties. Along with our Life Cycle program, the City of Jacksonville allows its employees to participate in the Employee Purchase Program which gives City Employees the opportunity to purchase Life Cycled PCs at a substantially reduced price.
