New more efficient water saving devices have arrived as a result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The purpose of the funding to the City was to save resources, and the City purchased 4500 devices to give you an opportunity to save water.
Multiple Options
New in the options for savings is a Shower Pro Massage shower head. Users may select from a gentle rain, a massage setting, or a combination of both. Even with these options, the shower head delivers surprising performance using only 2 gallons of water per minute. And there’s an on/off button that lets you turn off the water (while maintaining your hot and cold mix) so you can soap up without the water running. The device is easy to install, no tools are needed.
Kitchen Faucet Help-Two Choices
The City is also offering two special aerators for the kitchen that also save water. The first has a special push-pull feature that changes from aerator to stream, with both settings saving water by limiting it to two gallons a minute. You’ll save money not only in the water savings, but in how much hot water you use.
The device has a dual thread so it can be used in both kitchens and baths, and has a special button that allows the hot/cold mix to be saved while turning off the water for tasks in the sink that do not require running water.
A standard kitchen aerator is also available. This option produces a larger and whiter stream that is soft to the touch and non-splashing. The device is WaterSense listed and also holds NSF certification for safety and sanitation.
Big Savings-Water and Cash
Typical homes with the 2 gallons per minute shower head can expect savings of about 1825 gallons a year. That’s less water and could be less of a cost for the resident. Since the City’s water rate structure is designed to increase with more water use, it could keep you out of a higher priced category. In addition to the savings in water costs, residents could save money by not having to heat more hot water.
