Home Ownership Assistance


CD Housing ProjectThe Home Ownership Assistance Program is designed to assist families with purchasing a home of their own, within the Jacksonville City limits, by providing a 0% interest, deferred 2nd mortgage to help with the down payment.

This program was created especially for qualified families with incomes below 80% of the area median income who are capable of qualifying and repaying a first mortgage. The loan is a 0% interest deferred payment loan, due in full either at the end of the first mortgage term, upon resale, or conversion to a rental unit.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicant must:

  • Not currently own a home.
  • Have net worth not over $15,000.
  • Have a good credit history for the past 12 months.
  • Have at least one year of stable employment/income.
  • Complete Home Buyers Education Course
  • Meet Household Income Requirements. (see chart below)

Property must:

  • Be located in the Jacksonville City limits
  • Be new construction only
  • Meet standards of City's minimum housing code. (pass a city inspection)
  • Be a single family, condo, townhouse, or FHA approved modular home
  • Be maintained as the buyer's principal residence.
