What The City is Doing to Conserve
The City is saving through energy conservation & reducing waste to sustain a Clean & Green Jacksonville.
This effort is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Through funding this City is able to focus on Energy Saving Improvements and Activities.

Energy Efficient Lighting & Monitoring Systems
City Crews are installing Energy Monitoring Systems in City buildings. These systems are designed to detect energy over use and help the City reduce electrical consumption
City Buildings are being retro-fitted with energy efficient lights & occupancy sensors. Energy efficient lights last about 10x longer than traditional bulbs and use less energy. Occupancy sensors automatically turn lights off in rooms that are unoccupied. |

Recycling
The City offers residents large capacity bins for recycling. The larger bins are in place and provide ample room for residential recyclable materials. Additional cans may be available. City Recycling

Automation & Efficiency
Automating Sanitation Trucks are in service in the City of Jacksonville. These trucks enable City workers to collect residential trash at a quicker and more efficient rate. Automation is provide more efficiency & improved service. |

Water Saving Kits
With funds provided by the ARRA, the City is offering Utility customers free Water Saving Kits for use at home. Kits are available at Utility Billing in City Hall, 815 New Bridge Street in Jacksonville. A current utility bill is required to receive a kit. |

Maintain heating and cooling systems
Replace leaky windows and caulk needed areas
Unplug electronics when not in use
Maintain household appliances and electronics
Water Conservation
Fix leaky faucets
Conserve water in the shower and tub
Use a bucket for cleaning outdoors (car, patio, etc)
Don’t over water gardens and lawns
Recycling & Renewal
Glass, Cardboard & paper bags, Office & newspaper
Cans, Plastic, Cereal and other food boxes
