Mission

To protect the public, health, safety and welfare and to improve the quality of life for all citizens of Jacksonville.

Purpose

The Zoning/Code Enforcement Section is responsible for enforcing City ordinances and educating citizens on maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy living enviornment.   Zoning/Code Enforcement Officers work closely with citizens in an effort to correct violations of municipal codes and land use requirements.  Common violations investigated include:

• Illegal Home Occupations
• Building Setbacks
• Unapproved Land Uses
• Portable signs
• Banners
• High Grass and Weeds
• Trash and Debris
• Junk Vehicles
• Minimum Housing Complaints
